Oatman Burros

We went back up to Oatman Sat. to see the burros. They were so cute. I had a plastic bag

and they tried to bite it, thinking there were carrots inside. They also tried to bite my purse and

camera bag. I saved one of the babies. It had a piece of bungy cord chewing on it. I took it

out and gave it to a lady to throw away. The babies can't eat carrots cuz they would choke, so,

the town's folk put a sticker on their face saying not to feed them carrots. They still nurse off

their mothers. There was alot of piles of you know what in the streets. Yuck.

Montezuma's Castle-Camp Verde, AZ

The last day of our trip was spent down in Arizona by Camp Verde. We went to see the

Indian cliff dwellings. It was quite interesting. They were built in the 1400's. It is amazing

that they are still there. It seems that most of the mtns. have rock slides all the time and the

loose dirt falls down them also. Yet the dwellings the Indians made that many years ago are

quite impressive with block work etc. and half way up a stone wall.

BRYCE NAT'L. PARK UTAH

WOW What a day...again. Bryce N.P. is gorgeous.
The pics only show a little bit.
We are at Ruby Inn near Bryce tonight.
It was about 60 degrees and sunny today. Not too hot and not too cold.
There was some snow on the shaded parts of the mtns. this morning. Only patchy.
We will head back to Bullhead City tomorrow and the camper. Nothing like your own
bed even if it is in a camper.
My grandkids will think some of the pics look like castles. THEY DID!!!!
Going outside a little later to look at the stars. I guess they are beautiful up here at over
Bye for now

ZION NAT'L. PARK UTAH

Hi ya'll
We had a great day at Zion Nat'l. Park. It is really pretty but only about a 6 mile drive.
We went on some trails to see the water falls but the one Young went ALL the way UP, I
quit about 1/4 mile up. Of course, I had to walk back down the trail! I went the "easy" trail
and ended up at the same spot Young did coming from higher ground.
Anyway, it was so.....pretty.
Our plans are to go to Bryce Canyon Nat'l. Park tomorrow. The booklet we picked up said it is
6900 to 9100 elevation . Oh goody!!! It is a 37 mile round trip drive.
We shall see.......
Bye for now,
Patti
(Having trouble uploading pics...will later or tomorrow)

Aunt Ilah's 80th Birthday Celebration-Joshua Tree, CA

Went to Aunt Ilah's 80th Birthday celebration today. Saw lots of cousins and their kids and grandkids. Had a good time there visiting with everybody. There were over 30 family and friends. Some of the first cousins, I haven't seen in 38 yrs. and there families, some I have never met. Kind of nice. Made me miss my family back home in Michigan even more.

We left there just before dark and drove thru the Mohave Desert mostly in the dark. I figured we would see very few cars but I couldn't believe it; it was almost like a busy hwy. back home. You could see headlights coming from probably 15 miles away. At least, if we had any trouble with the truck, there were other people on the road. There was a sign just past 29 Palms that said there was no service stations for the next 100 miles. That was true, but there weren't any homes or anything else much out in the middle of the desert either. One spot there were lights at an iron mine about half way through the 100 miles. We had about 60 more desert miles past the one service station , at a 4 way stop, until we finally reached Needles, CA. From there, we had about 20 miles to drive to the campground in Bullhead City, AZ.
Made it back safely and now we are tired and going to BED.
So, Goodnight.

OATMAN, AZ-OLD GOLD MINING TOWN

Yesterday we drove to Oatman, AZ. It is on a nearby mountain. The town is an old gold mining town. Wild burros roam the streets, USUALLY, but not while we were there! I was kinda disappointed. Anyway, the town looks pretty much like it did in the early 1900's when the most gold ever found in Arizona was found there. Like $42 million dollars worth in about 1907 or there about. We shopped in some of the little shops and then drove OVER the mountains to Kingman. It was a really pretty drive but the road was narrow and not in the greatest shape. Lots of twisting, steep roads; but we made it through to the other side. Thank God. We plan to go back some afternoon when the burros are there. We went too early in the a.m. Oh yeah- the road we took over the mtn. was part of the old Route 66. The government has 5 open mines between Oatman and Kingman.

MIRAGE RV RESORT-BULLHEAD CITY, AZ

Hi.

We are settled pretty well into the rv park. Took some pics so you can see what it looks like. Pretty nice.

We did laundry again today. yuck

Playing euchre with some people we met from Ontario, Canada in about 20 min. FUN.

Went to Laughlin yesterday for a $6.99 prime rib buffet. Pretty good.

Plan on going up to Oatman Sat. It is a ghost town with burros running around the streets of

town. There are mock gunfights on the weekends. It is only 2600 above sea level. That's good.

Will take pics again there. I guess the most gold ever found in Arizona was found there.

Bye for now.

LAKE HAVASU - COLORADO RIVER

We had a great time yesterday. We went down to London Bridge, about 6 miles from this campground. We walked under it, and over it. We then took a boat ride in the Colorado River.

The pics tell the story.
