Palm Springs (windmills for electric power) Lake Havasu (London Bridge) Colorado River

Hi ya'll.

The windmill pics were taken on our way out of the Palm Springs area. These things are EVERYWHERE.

It is quite nice around Lake Havasu. The Colorado River is SO BLUE. People are still out there

water skiing, boating etc.

The beach is across the London Bridge. A guy brought this bridge over here; piece by piece from England. Across the river is California.

It is warm here in the 90's with humidity of 14%. Kinda neat. Wearing sleeveless and sandals. I hear there is snow in Michigan. Ha Ha

Bye for now/

PALM SPRINGS MNTS.-SALTON SEA-DATE PALMS

Went for a ride down to the Salton Sea. It is an almost "dead' sea with no fishermen except white pelicans. It is a very poor area with some vegetable farming and lots of date palm trees.

The mountains in pic are the view to the west of Palm Springs. Mountains are in EVERY direction; some higher than others.

We will be here in the 95 degree weather until Friday. We will be in Joshua Tree at Aunt Ilah's; where the temp. is 10 degrees cooler. The lack of humidity plays a bigger part in comfort than you would think.

Bye for now.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA

CATALINA SPA RV RESORT

We are enjoying the nice hot weather here. This is a beautiful campground. We have been swimming, enjoying the "hot spring" spas, walking, riding our bikes and even playing some games of pool.

Went to "The Bridge" this morning. It is a non-denominational church in Cathedral City, about 20 minutes from here. It was a pretty awesome service. We went to the 9 a.m. one. They have three services on Sun. mornings. It was the first time we attended church since we left Michigan. Shame on us! I really have missed attending church but it just never seemed like we were in a place where we could. Have been traveling most Sundays.

We are totally surrounded by mountains. It doesn't matter what direction you look outside; there are HIGH mtns. everywhere. Watched the sun set over the mtns. tonight--really pretty.

We went to see my 85 year old aunt and her husband yesterday. She is one of two of my dad's living siblings. We will go to visit the other one Friday in Joshua Tree, CA.

Bye for now.

Elizabeth Lake, California campground

We have been here in the foothills since Sunday. We are packing it up and heading for Catalina Spa Resort in Desert Hot Springs tomorrow. We will be there for 7 days. They have "hot springs" right on the campground that I'm sure Young will soak his aching back in.

Actually, I am looking forward to more civilization! We checked that c.g. out when we were in CA a couple years ago and it is really nice. If I remember correctly, they even have a church service.

We visited friends, Tim and Gladys, in Lancaster while here. That was the highlight of the entire week. Not much else going on except the fires on the other side of the foothills.

SEQUOIA

Our trip to Sequoia turned out to be a cold day. Up at the General Sherman tree (largest tree in the world) it was 33 degrees. Brrrrrrr....

It was really pretty up there.

Saw three bears and a coyote.

Glad to be down on safer, level ground. :)

KING CITY, CA

Hi

Got to see the old town where we lived our first year of marriage in 1970.

Our daughter was born there.

Got some pics of Hunter Liggett, the army base where Young was stationed during that time.

King City has grown so much we hardly knew it.

SANTA CRUZ, MONTEREY, SEASIDE, CALIFORNIA

Today is my birthday and it was a very good day.

We went driving around to see the places we used to go to 38 years ago when we lived in CA. Plus we saw a few we never saw before.

Young remembered the street and house number of the little house we rented for a week when we] first came to CA. He was in the army and got sent down near Hunter Liggett after one week. We packed up everything we owned in the back seat and trunk of my 1967 Camaro and moved to an apt. in King City.

The wharfs in the pics are of Santa Cruz and Monterey.

Bye for now.

SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA

We are at a RV park near Santa Cruz, CA. It is in a grove of redwood trees and on the banks of a river. We plan to scout out the area the next few days.

Tomorrow is my birthday and Young has offered to take me out to eat anywhere I would like to go. I may pick seafood. Wanted to find a place on the Oregon coast that served dungeon crab. It is being caught this time of year. It is supposed to be better than Alaskan crab. We shall see. It cost about $40 a plate in OR. Hopefully, it is more reasonable around here. If not....it is my birthday. :)

Oh yeah, Young bought me shoes, a purse, a pair of pants and two tops today. I guess if I don't get to eat d. crab, I have had a really nice birthday gift already!

YOSEMITE NAT'L. PARK

Wow what an awesome day. We drove up up up to Yosemite. It was absolutely beautiful and the mtns. were humungous!

We drove back to the RV park a different way and I spotted a bear in the river. It was in a place where we could pull over and take some pics. Thank you Lord! It was great! I even got a video but stupid me, I ended up erasing the video when I tried to view it!!!!!

It was an awesome day!!!!
